Custom Pet Portrait Commissions (Pastels)

1) Booking & Deposit
  • A 30% non-refundable deposit secures your booking. Work is scheduled after deposit and photo approval.

  • I create pastel portraits of dogs, cats, and horses from your approved photo.

2) Reference Photos & Approval
  • Please supply several clear, high-resolution, well-lit head/shoulder photos showing true eye colour and key features.

  • I’ll help you choose; one photo must be approved before I begin. By supplying a photo, you warrant you own it or have permission for me to use it to create the artwork.

3) Pricing, Payments & GST
  • Guide price: A4 from AU$300 (final quote depends on subject, size, and framing).

  • Deposit: 30% on booking (non-refundable).

  • Balance: 70% due on completion and before dispatch (and before framing, if framing is included).

  • Payment methods: PayPal (and bank transfer if you offer it).

  • All prices are in AUD and include GST where applicable.

4) Process, Revisions & Timeline
  • Typical timeframe: 1–6 weeks from deposit & photo approval, subject to my schedule.

  • I provide a final photo/video proof for approval.

  • Includes one round of minor adjustments (e.g., small colour/contrast tweaks). Major changes (pose, background, composition) may incur a fee or require a new commission.

5) Framing (Pastel Works)
  • [Choose one:] Framing is included / not included by default. If included, options are Pine, White, or Black timber-painted frames with glazing suitable for pastels.

  • Pastels are shipped flat and protected; avoid touching the surface.

6) Delivery, Shipping & Risk
  • Australia-wide delivery. Shipping and insurance are quoted at order time and payable by the client.

  • On receipt, inspect immediately. Report transit damage with photos of the artwork and packaging within 48 hours so I can assist with an insurance claim.

  • Risk in the artwork passes to you on delivery; I’ll help manage any carrier claims.

7) Cancellations
  • Client cancellation: The 30% deposit is non-refundable. If you cancel after work has begun, you agree to pay a reasonable pro-rata amount for work completed to date.

  • Artist cancellation: If I must cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, I will refund all monies paid, and no further liability will arise.

8) Copyright & Display
  • I (the Artist) retain copyright in the artwork and all images of it.

  • You receive the original physical artwork and a non-commercial licence to display it privately. Reproduction (prints, merchandise, advertising) requires my written licence.

  • I may display images of the finished artwork in my portfolio, website, and social media and enter it in exhibitions/competitions. Tell me in writing before booking if you need the artwork kept private.

9) Privacy
  • I only use your personal information to manage your commission, payments, and delivery, or as required by law. I do not sell your data. See my Privacy Notice (if applicable).

10) Australian Consumer Law (ACL)
  • Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the ACL. Where a consumer guarantee applies and is not met, you are entitled to a remedy (repair, replacement, or refund) per the ACL.

11) Disputes & Governing Law
  • We’ll try to resolve issues amicably first. These terms are governed by the laws of South Australia.
